Hi Lou N.
That's some interesting thoughts. I'll have to look into some of
them. I believe it does it sometimes even when I'm not in my
email. I'll have to pay more attention and see when it does it and
what is focused at the time.
Thanks.

Hey, Bud.
The chances are that what's going on is that your email client is set to do
a send/ receive every few minutes. It sounds like there's some sort of
notification that comes up and gets Window-Eyes's attention. If memory
serves, in Outlook, you can set Outlook to put an envelope icon in the
notification area, change the mouse pointer, both, neither, and probably
something else that I forgot about. Oh yeah. You can set it to play a sound
when new messages arrive. Since I want to be notified of new messages but I
don't want WE involved, I use a sound clip from Monty Python and the Holy
Grail--the part where Lancelot's page is impaled by an arrow with a message
tied to the arrow shaft and he says, "Message for you, sir!" This sound can
play in the--in fact, it just did--in the background while I'm working and
it doesn't take focus away or cause unwanted speech.
Back to the subject. If the extra speech is bothersome, you can look through
your email client's preferences and turn off these notifications.
Another thought. If I'm on NLS downloading a book and I'm browsing through
other titles when the download completes, the IE enhance script pulls focus
away from the edit window to the notification bar. In your case, the cause
might also be a Window-Eyes app. I say might. I really don't know enough
about the apps, but it's something else to check out.
hth,
Lou N.

Subject: computer talking when it shouldn't
Hi Gang,
I mentioned this problem a couple weeks ago but got no
replies. Maybe nobody else is having this problem. All of a sudden
the computer starts talking on it's own when I'm not even touching
the keyboard. It just says a sentence or two and then is silent for
a few minutes and then does it again. It's usually from an email or
whatever happens to be on the screen at the time I believe. Has
anybody else had this problem and is there any known cause or fix for
it? It's no big deal but a little annoying and surprising.
Thanks.
