Hi Mark:
I am definitely not hearing punctuation when I type it or cursor over it.
Just as a test, what happens if you hit ESCAPE to activate Browse mode and
then use the up or down arrow? If I arrow down I find the link that says
Screen reader mode is active, or something like that. If I then use
CTRL-SHIFT-a to toggle Browse mode off, I am no-longer in the edit area of
the document.
CTRL-ALT-z first toggles screen reader mode off.
  I am using WIN 7HP with FF 35.0.1 and Window-Eyes 9.0.0.

   Thanks.

Hi Richard,

I am using Windows 8.1, Firefox 35.01 and Window-Eyes 9. I have all screen
punctuation turned off (globally) and all keyboard punctuation turned on
(globally). When I get into Google Docs, the screen reader support mode
turns on automatically. If it doesn't, the hot key to toggle this feature is
Control-Alt-Z. Once it is enabled, I am hearing punctuation as I type and
when I cursor by character. When I navigate to a line of text with Up or
Down Arrow, Window-Eyes does not announce the punctuation and honors my
screen punctuation settings. Not sure why you are getting the results you
are but wanted to let you know I cannot duplicate the issue with the
settings and environment listed above. I am also able to turn Browse Mode
on manually with Control-Shift-A and then turn it off again without issue.
For me, the insertion point stays in the document regardless of the state of
Browse Mode and as soon as Browse Mode is turned off, I am able to begin
working in the document area again. On a side, note, there is a Enable
Braille support option under the settings pull down in the Accessibility
menu of the Google Docs toolbar (Alt-Shift-A). If I turn this option on, I
get the best possible experience in speech tool. I hope you find this info
helpful.

Regards,
Marc

Subject: Window-Eyes 9 and Google Drive

Hello listers:
I have just been tooling around with Google Drive and Window-Eyes 9.
Below are my observations based on a very brief test:
1. For me, Window-Eyes does not read punctuation, either when I type it,
cursor over it or when I backspace over it.
2. I'm not sure whether it is Window-Eyes or Google Drive but at times
there appears to be a phantom extra space between words.
3. Upon hitting escape, I seem to have gone into browse mode which doesn't
allow me to edit the current document. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way
to get back into "edit" mode. I did try CTRL-SHIFT-a which perportedly took
me out of Browse mode but I still was not able to edit my document. Tabbing
did little to help. There is no "edit" on the page so I was unable to use
the quick-nav method of finding the edit box and returning to "edit" mode.

If anyone can point out my ignorance, on this issue only, or give me tips
I would greatly appreciate it.

  Thanks in advance.
