If one goes into the options menu in Windows Media player and checks the "Rip
Automatically" checkbox on the
"ripping tab", the CD will be ripped automatically when one puts it in. One
can tell Windows Media Player to eject
automatically when it is finished. You can listen to the CD while it is
ripping or you don't have to. This works
nicely when you are ripping a lot of CD's.

If you don't want to rip CD's automatically, make sure the "Rip Automatically"
box is not checked. Then when you
put in a CD, Windows Media Player should be on the "Now Playing" screen. If it
is not on that screen, Pressing
Control 3 should bring you there. If you tab around that window, you should
find a "Rip" button which you can
activate by pressing SPACE.

I do not doubt that there might be easier ways to rip a CD, but this really
works pretty well and one doesn't have
to download anything new or worry whether you are getting anything you don't
know you are getting. I really wish
that if people say "my way works better" that they would take a minute to tell
us why. We all think our way works
better or we would do it another way. <smile>

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
