Hi and Sorry Tom: I don’t remember but detailed it a few months ago. What I remember is that it started with some things automatically happening in both web pages and in one of my own computer windows programs I had created. I did some experimenting to try and narrow the problem and found one of the ones I could replicate enough was the reading of things that were not in focus or not even in the same program I was working in - phantom speech as it were. I then ran enough experiments in my own program, not internet but a windows based program, and found I could get the phantom speech and even which controls it was coming from. I had a list box on top of a windows form with a text box below it. As I arrow up and down the list items in the box I dynamically load the text box with data related to the selected item. When in the list box and arrowing up and down sometimes WE would start to read what was being loaded into the text box, sometimes not. But that is where the phantom speech was coming from. I did some more experiments and found something similar happening in Internet Explorer. Now, I think I also changed the voice of the mouse and, again if I remember, the phantom speech was read at the new setting indicating it was the mouse doing the phantom reading outside of where focus was suppose to be reading. Since the mouse is an active object, think of rollovers and other things that these days fire up when the mouse is involved, I made the best guess that it was the likely problem in my case and perhaps in other senarios where things were happening like some menu bars and dropdowns automatically popping up from time to time. I floundered around with WE Settings and followed a couple of ideas from Chris and some folks on the list and the problem went away and has stayed away. Because I was just playing around trying to get some production work done I didn’t keep track of the WE changes but remember I turned off track mouse and another setting to try and get the mouse out of the picture unless used by me from the keyboard. I don’t think it worked 100 percent but it worked much better. But, I forget which settings were involved or I would have posted them up. When I saw the postings related to mouse problems I thought I would post up that blurb in case anyone remembered my experiments and postings and the settings they recommended to me. Later and I would have posted the details if this old grey head could remember them - there are allot of WE Settings and script settings and windows settings and all that jazz. My bad was not creating a text file to log the changes I was making - again, sorry. If you get these types of problems I can go into the WE Settings Control Panel and see if I can find all the settings related to the mouse - I think I turned one off that sounded like I was turning of the mouse completely but it only turned off automatic speaking of the mouse and it still worked correctly from the keyboard and that was the last one I changed and seemed to fix the problem. Perhaps someone on list will remember what or where that setting is and if not and you are having problems along these lines I will see if I can find it and post up again. Rick, Explaining what problem you had and what you did to fix it would be a lot more helpful than this message.
