Does anyone else find the extraordinary High Prices of Accessible Software,
something that borders on Insulting, and perhaps Greedy?

When I can purchase a product off the Shelf for around $200, or a bit
more if I need Professional quality, the $900 price for Open Book just
seems a bit much, as in Too MUCH!

There is no way I can afford $900 for a Scanning package.

I even find the prices of Screen Readers to be far too High. When the
software that reads the screen is twice the price of the computer it
will
operate upon, something is wrong there. But given the sales are for a
smallish market, I'll give Screen Reader Companies a reluctant Pass for
their High Pricing.

However, Open Book could be sold as a product for not only the Blind,
but for the Sighted as well. So Open Book is not limited to just the
Blind community, and the State Agencies that might pay such pricing.

The Authors of Open Book would need to make their software easy to use
and understand by all users, Price it for the Mass market and not just
for the Blind depending upon State Agency Money to buy it.

I've been using Omni-Page, and I bought it because I could afford it,
and could not, and would not afford Open Book due to its pricing.

4900 for a Scanning Software package that is probably not all that much
more powerful than the Software that comes with the typical Scanner, for
Free!

enough of the ridiculous High Prices!
