Dave, there are software, and there are many more software! If you think
that screen readers and specially adapted software are too pricey, please
consider doing some research! I've seen software in the mainstream
marketplace priced at between $5,000 and $7,000 or more.
Pick a profession--say law as an example--and you'd be shocked at the price
to be paid for acquiring a practice software. Do the same in the field of
medicine and neither you nor I will be smiling!
Personally, I'd like to see screen reader developers make their companies go
public so they can source more funding through stock investments. I'll
gladly buy some! But they are all privately held corporations and venture
capitalists are beginning to swallow a few and kicking them out of the
market. The day I can walk over to WalMart and grab a copy of a screen
reader, I'll be the happiest kid in the block!
Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado
