i don't know if this would work. but some bloggers say you can turn the numb lock on by opening the ease of access and useing the on screen keyboard to turn it off. some bios have a option to have the numlock key on or off on boot up. since i don't have anyone here to look in my bios settings i couldn't tell you if this is true.

But it has to be a numberpad with a numlock. From what I understand, some
people have computers with numberpads that don't have a numlock. Pam.

Hmmmm!, I have a Del with Windows 8 and the numlock key is present and

know of anything I need to tell the sales people since I use Window eyes?

I would imagine just make sure your new Del has a num pad. Otherwise you'll
have to use an external num pad.

I know in the past, I have not had a lot of luck with keeping external num
pads working correctly. So I always get a computer with a num pad built in.
It might make the lap top a little larger but it is worth it.
