Interestingly, I have some of the same problems discussed here when coming out of sleep mode. Usually, I have found that entering the password even if Window-Eyes is silent, brings everything back. There are some other issues that I have once sleep mode has been encountered as well, though, even if the password works. What is interesting to me is that I also am using HP computers and Windows 7. I wonder if there is something with HP computers that is affecting this.
