Sorry, if this is the same kind of behavior I am experiencing with my
bank, your advice does not work. What happens in my case is that the
dropdown control is reported as an editbox. Hence, turning off browse
mode, I sure can arrow up and down the list, but the speech won't report
anything, even if the contents on the screen alters. So, the screen will
go from payee1 to payee2 and payee3, when I down-arrow - but the speech
keeps quiet. Tabbing away from the control, and then back again, the
selected payee name will be spoken, as it is the current content in the
editbox. Now, imagine I have arrowed down 5 times, meaning that payee5
is selected and displayed in the box. I do not know if this was the
right payee, so I tab once, Shift-Tab back again, and hear the name
spoken. And I realize it was not the right one. So I once again try
pressing the down-arrow key. But what happens then, is that the whole
thing starts at the top of the list, meaning that I will have to press
Down-arrow six times this turn, to get to the payee just beneath the one
I was at.
I sure have tried the Alt-Down combo, but to no avail. Guess as long as
WE recognizes the control as an editbox, it does treat it as such, no
matter if the recognition was wrong. This has been an issue for me for a
long time, and I did report it a while back, with no fix for the last
three updates of the screen reader. I do second the initial message
here, PLEASE have WE recognize this kind of controls as the kind of
combo-edit-boxes they are.
I do not run a Braille display here at the moment, so cannot confirm to
what extent things show up correctly on the Braille; but do rely on the
reported behavior. If the Braille copies what is on the screen, WHY not
the speech? Please, could we have an explanation from the staff here?

if you used a keyboard you would press enter on the combo box to turn

Subject: Consistent problem with combo box on bank site
Greetings all.
Hope that the new corporate will fix the below when Window-eyes
version 9.5 or 10 comes out?
My online banking site uses a combo box from within which to select a
specific payee.
When moving up or down the list with standard cursor movement keys,
speech drops out, but braille tracks perfectly. According to my
display - the payee number is listed on the left, and the payee name
is listed on the right. Those who do not have braille would find this
aspect of the bank's site inaccessible.
Using Internet Explorer version 11, on a Windows seven installation.
Window-Eyes v9.4. Now that I know it to be a consistent behaviour
with the configuration I've just described, will try with Firefox and
Chrome at home to see if I have improved access.
Vaughan.
