My installation went well. I am using Windows 7 64-Bit Pro with latest
updates. Why, however, should the use of another screen reader be needed to
install Window-Eyes? My main comment would be that one cannot check the
progress of the download and installation prior to the reboot. After the
reboot, the silence is so long that one thinks the program didn't install
correctly. Actually, just at the time I turned on NVDA the message was
displayed that default apps were being downloaded, and I heard the tones. I
certainly understand that there is more to be installed than in previous
versions of Window-Eyes, we just get concerned when there are long periods
of unexplained silence and no way to check on them. Yes, I still love
Window-Eyes. I have appreciated the tech support in the past and hope it
continues.

Hi Marc
It went the same way like you mentioned here in Belgium, I needed to start
NVDA to complete installation.
One question I have not meant as critics: maybe if this package had been
betatested, the less problems people should have encountered. I am sure that
for advanced windows users like you and me, it is only a little annoyance
but we will overcome, but for maybe some beginners this is really difficult
stuff.
Regards
Davy

I helped a client download and install the 9.5.1 update on two machines this
morning. One was a Windows 7 desktop and the other was a Windows 10 laptop.
I always go to the update website and download the installer instead of
choosing the option that runs the update as soon as it is downloaded. Using
this strategy seems to lessen the chance of issues but does not eliminate
them altogether.
For example, after installing the update on the Windows 7 PC and rebooting,
Window-Eyes was not reading anything useful. It wouldn't read the Desktop,
Start Menu or Window-Eyes control panel. It would only echo keystrokes when
they were pressed. We then launched NVDA just so we could restart the PC.
After the second reboot, Window-Eyes came up talking and everything was
working as expected. The update went flawlessly on the Windows 10 laptop.
No issues at all.
Best,
Marc

wineyes stop working after new release. once the system rebooted, wineyes
was no where to be found. From the run dialog I type wineyes.exe and hit
enter and I received an error message. I did a print screen was all that a
big of a file, some where around 7,000 kb. Working with NVDA isn't all the
pleasant. Anyone else having this same issue?
window vista, current wineyes release.
