Hi: Yup, figuring out all the services is a bugger and there many many that I have not figured out so leave alone. I did turn off all the active tiles and then turned off apps running in the background I don't use. I also turned off Microsoft features I wouldn't use that sync or store things in the Microsoft cloud since these require internet access behind the scenes and may impact performance. I left most the services alone since I couldn't figure out if they would be needed as you mentioned but I think I turned a couple off or set them to manual or whatever, that was some time ago. I found a tool by typing "Reliability" into the start menu that abstracts some of the information about performance and errors and it is somewhat accessible with WindowEyes finding that Internet Explorer was crashing off and on, ya I knew that but... It looked like it was crashing during times I was not even using it - perhaps something behind the scenes is using it while not displaying it? I do know that if I am in Internet Explorer and it crashes it will lock up WE for at least a time. I could not figure out how to change the day nor week filters nor if there is other data WindowEyes is not telling me and it is a bit clunky but at least it works for recent, or weeks, messages that impact performance for some things. I am not confident enough to try anything related to setting up Performance Counters and creating my own reports and using WindowEyes in the Microsoft Management Console which is a split window with MDI elements is a bugger. Anyway guys, I hope some of us actually learn how to use our machines and the tools to manage it so we can share what we learn since it is a rather complex set of tools and many are not very user friendly with WE and some seem inaccessible unless we can figure out navigation and usage techniques let alone what they do and how to use them even if they were accessible. But these are the things the pros use when managing computers in a business so it is either learn them, stay in the dark or put the Geek Squad on speed dial - smile. Rick USA
