You are completely forgetting NVDA which is a free option, and it's actually a screenreader worth using. it's not a toy a couple people put together, it actually works a lot better than a lot of folks think.

So, if Window-eyes does eventually stop being developed, there is absolutely no reason why you can't download a free copy of NVDA and use that.

It is going to be a hard decision when the time comes to pay $1000.00 for JAWS or spend that same money for a Apple based laptop.

And yes: this is speculation caused by uncertainty.

I'm glad we are having this discussion.

None of us, probably not even the guys at AI Squared are even able to speak about the future of Window-eyes until it is time to do so. So all this thread really does is create what some in the online world call fud. Fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Yes: paying customers do have certain rights, one of which to complain.

I'm in that paying customer group, who subsidise the Window-eyes for Office programme, and actually, as a paying customer, get less and less of what I've paid for.

As our numbers diminish, so Window-eyes becomes less viable as a distinctive, commercially driven product.

For those who say use NVDA - not for me - its braille support is worse than Window-eyes. So - it may well be JFW which I reluctantly purchase, or I stay with Window-Eyes the performance of which is now lagging in a number of areas.

So VFO: talk to your paying customers.

   Vaughan.

Countdown to the demise of we y'all. I been calling it, we and fusion will be killed, magic will be put to it's deserved death fs always knew magic sucked and was a complete joke. The shark and zt will be made to work together and we'll be offered oh, so great upgrade pricing sarcasm. Of course people are now gonna say stop complaining. When i'm spending my own money on something i have a right to complain. Fs's upgrade model is stupid to update my old copy of the shark and magic would cost a arm, leg and first born child.
