I happen to think, on a humanitarian rather than on a political level, that some goods and services, defined as essential, should be shielded from market forces. I would include health care (I'm British), and access technology. In this category, people like clinicians and the developers of technology should be paid well for their expertise, but the price should not be armped up by supply and demand, scarcity value, ETC. The prospect of somene else's profit margin, over and above proper salaries, preventing someone with cancer from receiving treatment, or a blind person being able to have the means of cummunicating in a digital world, is obscene. And "That's just the way it is" is defeatist talk in my opinion.
