We turned them off and the display worked as it should. I can't remember the specifics of the situation but do know turning them off restored functionality. For example, if you want to update Office, you can just press alt, then F, then D, then R, then you're in the updates window. But try that with virtual ribbons turned on. I recommend learning the Office interface. If Microsoft decides to change windows to do updates and office which they did when they introduced the ribbon things became harder. -----Original Message----- From: Talk [mailto:talk-bounces+rkurlan=schools.nyc....@lists.window-eyes.com] On Behalf Of Darrell Bowles via Talk Sent: Tuesday, May 16, 2017 12:53 PM To: Dennis Long <dennisl1...@gmail.com>; Window-Eyes Discussion List <talk@lists.window-eyes.com> Subject: Re: whole migrating situation Then we have a monopoly, where there is only one option. One thing I have realized from participating on this list, is the variety of needs and experiences WE users have. So while you and I don't use mouse keys (for example), others do. I probably use %2 of WE's functionality, so probably any screen reader I use will work for my needs or wants, but others need far more than I do. No one is forcing you to purchase anything, but likely, you will have to adapt to new technology whether that technology is adaptive or commercial (meaning for the sighted public as well). I feel that since vfo bought all these other companies that they should tried to make the screen readers as close to each other as possible, not having to have to learn a new screen reader. I think that when you use screen readers you should only have to use arrow keys, tab keys, application keys not use mouse keys, numpad keys since it is a pain in the neck to keep switching and holding down keys. Vfo could have had a window-eyes keyboard layout and the biggest problem also is that Microsoft wants everyone to use Microsoft edge and not ie firefox or chrome any more. I am sick and tired of tech people telling you to read a manuel or listen to pod casts. I am a blind person who works and do you think I have the time or energy to have to listen to the editorals? Where are the cheat sheets that c an be sent out? I am not a computer geek or do I want to be a geek. All screne readers should be made simple not all the intricate stuff that you have to do and that is where vfo should try to work with Microsoft as well as all screne readers should work with Microsoft to help the blind. The Microsoft people on the accessibility line should be trained with all screne readers. _______________________________________________ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared.
