Sometimes I find that the status lines only reads correctly when the window has 
been maximized.  You might see if that helps in this case.

If the key is insert-page down, then I never have anything in the status 
line except for the file explorer.  I am used to having a status line in 
Thunderbird that tells me how many messages there, how many are not read 
and in some cases, how many have been deleted.  I have tried using both 
the insert-page down on the number pad and the ones on the six-pack.  It 
says absolutely nothing.  Oh yes, somethimes, when I am on the desktop, 
it will tell me either the date or the time, depending on what mood it 
is in, grin.  Thanks for any suggestions.
