I think what they did was to allow the use of the Windows short-cut key,
even when window-eyes was running.
Window-eyes used to say window-eyes is already running when you hit the
control-alt-w, but now it restarts window-eyes instead.
The hot key still must be defined somewhere, and when window-eyes is first
installed, it is automatically defined on the desk top.
As a side note, when things get messed up, sometimes the control-alt-w key,
for me, will not work when window-eyes is running. When this happens, press
control-insert-f4 and press enter to close window-eyes, wait a few seconds
to hear the closing sound, and then press control-alt-w again to start the
program from scratch!

But in the last few versions, they had put on control alt w in case window
eyes would crash, and it was supposed to be able to restart window eyes. It
has worked most of the time for me. So, maybe you have to reinstall it.
Or, is it an ap? I know somebody said all their aps were suddenly gone.

What I always did turn on window – eyes was to press control escape to get
to the control panel then I would press W give it a moment then arrow down
to. I believe the layout has changed as now I only have to arrow down one
but I'm not sure what the layout would be like on your computer.
