Actually, yes and no. the mailing-list *could* add a reply-to header, to the list-adress. It's not a fool-proof method (what if the user also adds one?), but it makes an effort, at least, to tell the users that the reply-to should go to the list. Now, you'll find people agreeing and disagreeing with both methods.
