For starters if the maintainers of JOSM Potlatch and Merkaartor encouraged the use of yes/no it would be a way forward. I have once noted that "Presets" may contradict the wiki but no one felt that this "should" be changed rather than just muddle along in a manner which resembles the English language - sops up every word that comes along. We need the authoritative stance of that French institution that tried to keep "hamburger" out of their language .
