Did you just make that up, or is this use of the @ symbol a pre-existing
standard?
The part after @ is the "modifier" in posix locales and is often used
for script type, see for example

Looks like a good scheme. Conflicts slightly with the suggestion at <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:name>, under 'Localization', of using name:ko_rm for romanized Korean.

Presumably name@Latin would also be desirable?
