Nothing has extra has been installed on the phone. I think I will visit an unlocking shop to see if they can remove the telstra destinations or perhaps I will phone them and let them know if they don't remove them and I have to pay someone to do so I will switch providers. they protect them so people don't delete them by mistake. when nokia replace a handset they put exactly what is on the old one. So apart from the destinations I can't remove it's a normal e72 with the 850 meg band which is why it's a e72-2.

I am wondering if another app that may have been installed on the phone is
causing the problem? Are both the router and phone using the same security
setting? e.g. WEP or WPA2 etc.

When using a package like walking hot spot, this just shows that the
wireless connection works on the phone. At this point! It would be using the
cell network to get any data off the web. So in my thought, the Tech only
proved that the wireless connection is working on the phone as a gateway to the cell network. I think your best bet is to unlock and then un brand your
e72. However that is off topic. No Talks isn't causing the issue.

Stephen or any other persons with technical knowledge on the list.
When I took my e72 back to nokia today instead of using a normal LAN they
used a phone running either walking hotspot or the other similar package to
show me their is no problem. the branch manager lames there is no
difference between hotspots. The problem is it still won't connect to web
addresses via a LAN but seemed to work perfectly when a phone is used as a
hotspot. as they used an automatic ip address I tried that when I got home
but still no joy yet my laptop works perfectly via the same wireless
network. I tried 2 different wifi networks on the weekend which would not
work as well as 2 public free wifi hotspots at Sydney airport one servicing
the domestic terminal and the second the international terminal.
These did not work either. I've since removed the sim card and formatted
the phone a few times. When I heard it work using the phone hotspot I was
very pleased thinking the problem had gone away but no so now I am at a
loss. I am going to go to my local pc shop tomorrow I will ask the guy
there to see if he can connect the phone to his network after he sets the
date and time on the phone. If my laptop did not work on my wlan then my
LAN would be at fault. The nlkia branch manager told me to change the
channel on the router as it might help but as the phone and router talk to
each other I'm sure that's not the issue but I did try it with no effect.
the only difference I know of between phone hotspots and routers is one uses addhock while the other uses public. perhaps the latest e72 software uses a
different default setting in that field and it has to be changed. Another
thing I plan on doing if I can find someone with an optus sim who will let
me borrow it for a few seconds then hopefully the protected telstra
destinations may be removed.
The branch manager refused to use a router based LAN saying their is no
difference between a phone hotspot and a LAN.
