There are two 1 1/2 hour afternoon workshops starting at 3p: 3p-4:30p: Body Moves, Mind Flows- For beginners and all levels of dancers: Introduction to the basic concept of Tango Zen meditation, breathing and posture, and exercises for establishing mindfulness, and connection with one's partner and the music. 4:45-6:15p: Tango Zen Mind: Dance Here Now! - A focus on the convergence of mind and body by practicing simple moves with mindfulness, gradually increasing the complexity to full tango movements. Wear comfortable clothes, socks, bring smooth soled shoes. $25 per workshop, 2 workshops @ $45. $55 both workshops plus Milonga; Members discount. 8p-9p: Complimentary Intro to Tango Zen class 9p-1a: MILONGA with demo by Chan & Eugenia Park. With striking similarities between the two disciplines, this workshop will introduce methods through which anyone, young or old, dancer or not, can experience and enjoy the wonderful benefits of both Tango and Zen. Adapted from martial arts, meditation techniques, and sports as well as Tango, the exercises sharpen concentration through an engaging physical discipline. Through repetition, participants can acquire a better sense of balance, connection, centering, grounding and weight shifting, all of which are critical for tango dancing. Chan & Eugenia Park are innovative and adventurous tango dancers who are pioneering the concept of Tango Zen through their appearances throughout Europe, Asia, North & South America, and through Chan's popular new book Tango Zen: Walking Dance Meditation.
