This is a protest vote and I hope others would join.
Two things.
First, based upon Howard's first message, I don't think 4.0 is going out
the door without TAPESTRY-724 being fixed.
Second, Tapestry 4 makes things considerably easier to do than in Tapestry
3. With Tapestry 3, I found it very difficult to accomplish anything
without Spindle. With Tapestry 4, I've managed to get by fine. Sure,
part of that may be due to experience, but I think T4 just makes it easier
to get things done. With simpler DTDs, I don't need to rely on Spindle to
auto-complete for me. With optional page specs, I don't need Spindle to
help me manage all of my files.
Please don't misconstrue that to mean I don't want to see Spindle support
for Tapestry 4. I'm sure Geoff has great things in the works and I'm all
for whatever helps improve productivity. I'm just suggesting that the
release of Tapestry 4 need not be coincidental with the release of
"Spindle 4" (in quotes since I don't think anyone won the naming contest
;-).
