I am in two community music groups, one is an old time string band and the other a heritage fiddle ensemble, playing traditional dance tunes of Tasmania. Both are bidding for a spot at our National Folk Festival so we have been participating in making the supporting materials to go with applications, recording, picture taking, a bit of filming too. We won't know if we are successful until November sometime. I will only play with one group...so there is a decision to be made if both get an offer.
I am finding time to transcribe some of the fiddle tunes I like, working over some recent lesson tunes and playing the banjolin some. We have had a lot of rain, days and days of it, so inside, no sun, cold - early spring weather. Reading a lot. I have a couple of writing projects going to keep things interesting. Lulo Reinhardt actually came to tour Tasmania, and I managed to make it to one of his gigs, it was good. The early spring flowering trees are out...and more to come, a hopeful time.
