Went to Ken Cartwright's store last night to see Lee Highway. John Averill is
the mandolin player and he is as
good as it gets for the kind of mandolin I like, no flash, not a single hot
lick, just hard drivin', down the road
Bluegrass. Plus, the boy can tenor a dog whistle. What great show, especially
with Peter Schwimmer sitting
in on banjo. Pete is his own kind of special.

Interesting fact about John, at least to me, is that he played for Mason
Williams for 15 years, everything from
Classical music to jazz. I didn't know.
