It does matter to me who does the asking. An experienced mandolin player who understands and values the instrument, is very different than someone who has not played much, and does not understand the value of the item he/she is holding, personal and intrinsic. I am honored if someone plays mine who knows what they are doing and are appreciating and valuing the mandolin they have in their hands. Ever notice how you loan a book to one friend and it comes back in the condition it left in and another mate drops it in the bathtub, makes coffee rings on the cover and maybe dog-ears the pages or installs food stains on the pages. Sometimes the book is never even returned. linda
