There are three versions of this tune. Apparently one from Alabama, and two
from Mississippi. If you are interested in reading about
them, try this link:

If not, the short story is:

GRUB SPRINGS [3]. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Mississippi. A Major. Standard
tuning. AABB. Recorded by Burnsville, Mississippi, fiddler
John Hatcher for the Library of Congress in 1939 (AFS 3000 A4) on a field trip
by Herbert Halpert. It is a different tune than
versions #1 & #2 i.e. bears little or no resemblance either the Ernest Clauch
(that usually goes by that name) or the Charlie
Stripling tune under that name recorded for the Library of Congress. Source for
notated version: John Hatcher (Mississippi)
[Phillips]. Phillips (Traditional American Fiddle Tunes), vol. 1, 1994; pg.
107. Rounder 18964-1518-2, Various Artists (John Hatcher)
- "American Fiddle Tunes" (a reissue of the 1971 Library of Congress LP of
field recordings).

Hatcher's original recording can be found here:

> Okay, here's my first pick. The tune is the Mississippi version of

> As I hear it, there's really only A and G chords in this with a
> whisper of E on the ends. This tune is one I've been wanting to get a
> better grip on myself. The hard part for me is to get around the
> restrictions the frets put on the slides and drags, especially in the
> B section. Several ways to order the parts. You all play it how it
> suits you. I have my way. The tune is played out of standard tuning,
> but could be moved to AEAE.
>
> On a side note, Happy Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for you all. The
> world's a better place with you in it.
> Life is good.
