A user making use of the "keep attachments in separate directory"
feature would rightly assume that backing up a specific account will
back up *all* data of that account, including its attachments
(expected to be stored in a folder of that account).
In reality, he will _loose all attachments_ unless he also backs up
his Inbox.
I have all my accounts store attachments in a separate directory.
What I currently get after running my Inbox filters is messages in
various accounts with attachments still stored in the Inbox.
In my opinion, this is not a consequent implementation of a stated
functionality.
The Bat! should
- either *fully* support keeping attachments in a separate directory
and in this case *not* "strongly recommend to keep attachments
together with messages", which is equivalent to providing something
with one hand and taking it away with the other, or
- frankly state that keeping attachments in a separate directory is
not feasible, and relinquish the inconsequent current functionality.
Nor do I understand why it is impossible to move an attachment to the
same physical folder its message has been moved to.
