Hi Nick,

Okay - cross purposes. I have been specifically talking about Reply
templates as opposed to New Message templates. You are quite right,
only a folder macro will give you a pre-addressed message, but I don't
like that to happen.

For New Messages I simply pull up a blank message template, type a
partial address and let Ctrl-Plus cycle the matches in the Address
Book for me. Once the right address is in there and you tab into the
edit pane the template is activated and "does its' stuff".

I suppose that there is no real harm in having folder specific New
Message templates - it's the "Reply" templates that cause problems.
OTOH if I wanted to write to, e.g., a colleague on a project issue, I
would have to first of all bring up TB from the tooltray, check which
folder has the focus, navigate to the right one (or at least out of
one that will give the wrong format of message) then /finally/ ask for
a new message. For these reasons the Folder template method is too
clumsy for me. It's too easy to be in the wrong folder and get a badly
addressed / signed / accredited message. When the template used is
keyed from the destination address, all is rosy IMHO :-).

The only time my method gets tricky is when there are multiple
recipients. In such cases, I start the message out addressed to a key
recipient who either gets a default template or I know I write to in
the requireed style and then, once the message is under way, doctor
the To and CC fields as required.
