> Hi,

today I received a message with an attachment winmail.dat. Isn't
TheBat supposed to be able to decode this file by itself? I don't
remember having seen one of those for ages.

The message was a reading confirmation generated by Outlook 2010.

Regards,
Alto

Hello -

no one should ever send a winmail.dat file to anyone as an attachment to a mail.

Anyone (in fact any stupid person or newcomer to all matters computer and
software) who does this didn't configure his Microsoft Outlook program
correctly.

Even if it's a person who you trust you should delete this file immediately and
never open it.

Especially if it's a person you trust send him an email telling him he should
enter "winmail.dat" in Google and search how he can program/change Outlook so
he won't ever attach winmail.dat again.

Best,
Franz
