Are you sure? A MS technet post I read explains how to prevent sending
winmail.dat, but only to specific addressees. There is no mention of
an option that Outlook users (without Exchange servers) can tick or
untick to globally turn sending winmail.dat on or off.

Is this incorrect? Is there such an option?

Hello Alto,

it's such a long time ago I had to tell a friend (who'd just bought Office 2007
and was verrry proud to use the new Outlook) how to DE-install sending the
winmail.dat file to me that I forgot where to do this.

As a music promoter he sent this file with every pdf, all the graphics and
informations out to every jounalist in his address book. A nightmare...

From what I read it's even de rigeur (a MUST) to NOT attach this file -
actually every specialist recommended to configure Outlook so you won't send
this attachment with every mail.

At least you can click that away every time someone sends this file; so it
won't do harm to your computer. But why send this attachment anyway?

Regards,

Franz
