Hi.

I might sound rude, but this stuff is beginning to get on my nerves.

Max and Stef are constantly adding new features, which many of us could live
without so far - like the Connection Centre, like GPG support, like constant
little updates and improvements - while they keep ignoring, or postponing,
IMPORTANT issues and LONG-STANDING BUGS!!

* subject/sender info changing with new messages
* Undo in editor working strangely
* problems or crashes when opening attachments-in-attachments
* weird cursor behavior in header edit fields
* non-working nicknames in address books (a hell for ex-Netscape users!)
* "too big" mails downloaded with the Dispatcher still get rejected
* deleting mails doesn't always delete attachments
* deleting unread threads sometimes results in mistakes in folder's message count
... and so on, and so on.

Now I might sound really sarcastic, and maybe it's just me, but I'm fairly sick
of the everpresent "aw, forget the bugs, let's add a new feature!" attitude I'm
greeted with everywhere I turn!!

Microsoft's Windows 2000 now even have smoothly-shaded translucent icons while
dragging them, and mega-ultra-cool stupid fade-in menus, while they still
haven't fixed their damn system tray, which is still limited to 16 colors and
makes all the icons in there look like s**t.

Netscape's Navigator now has the AOL Messenger built in, and a whole bucketload
of sidebars and extra icons, including skinnability, while it still fails to
treat its online/offline status correctly.

Adobe's Photoshop, instead of having stability issues and font-related stuff
fixed at last, now has a reeeeaaally useful option to include "to-do notes" on
the images, plus the new-and-remodelled Layer Effects now take 10 seconds to
load on a 800MHz machine.

ICQ, once a tiny and handy messenger utility, now includes a huge address book,
reminders, a mail program, automatic launching of dozens of plugins and
user-defined programs (and probably a vacuum cleaner packed together with a VR
cleaning lady), while it still has problems with connecting from firewalled
machines and with keeping its damn windows always-on-top.

The reason I decided to buy The Bat! was the once-timely response from the
programmers, who replied to every bugreport within 2-3 days and produced fixes
and patches every several days. Now even if I keep sending bugreports, I can
only HOPE that they will get fixed.

Right now, however, the bugreports seem to have a two-way random filter in
Max&Stef's mailboxes: one way ends up in the "urgent! important bugreports!"
folder, the other way in the "trash" folder.

So how is it? If the programmers are so totally busy, that they don't have time
to reply to mails (as Stefan wrote in a mail to me) then how does it happen
that they have the time to write fancy-dandy Connection Centres, and at the
same time they don't have time to look into their bulging list of long-overdue
BUGS!?

WAKE UP, Max & Stef! WAKE UP, I say! I have several friends, who I encouraged
to switch to The Bat and some of them even actually paid for it, and all of
that because I told them that the little Bat has all the good features of
Outlook and Netscape Messenger and Eudora, and at the same time its bugs get
fixed on a daily (or weekly, or even monthly, but SURE and TIMELY) basis. And
now what? Each new beta version brings new features and new little bugfixes,
while the oldest bugs still live within the program and nobody CARES about it
anymore!

WAKE UP, dammit! If it goes on like this, you'll begin to lose customers, and
all you're going to do then is wonder, why oh why nobody likes your program
anymore.

I'm not saying that you're forgetting to work on it, and you've just settled to
market it instead of improving it. Hell, no. I'm just saying that whenever you
sit down to write a piece of code for The Bat, FIRST look into the bugreports
list, and THEN into the planned features, once the oldest bugs are gone.

You're going to hear such words not only from me. This IS getting worse.
