You clearly did send an HTML message into a mailing list, which is not on the
usual list of good practices, regardless on how high esteem of yourself your
tone implies.

As a solution you propose - for everyone - to configure their mail clients to
ignore HTML whatsoever, which is clearly not what anyone meant to.

Look how readable quoting is in your message:

Now who can make sense of this, especially if you quote several blocks?
German has a nice expression for this: da kennt sich kein Schwein aus.

So, now that I, too, resorted to using an HTML message, may I suggest a humbler
approach and actually listening to what people are trying to tell you instead
of suggesting crude workarounds for your arbitrary choices?
Thank you.
