I rarely need to do encrypt mail. I do have a need to ensure the
authenticity of some messages I receive and some I send. To that
end, I sign messages so that any users of OpenPGP can verify the
integrity of the message and its source.

I use S/MIME too. In many ways I prefer it, except that is adds a
2kb bloat to every signed message and is not practical on that
basis. Fine for private mail, but not so hot for list posting.

It can be complex to install and configure but I find that it can
become very simple to handle when used through TB's plug-ins and
templates.
