I  don't  know  if I read it or not! But if M$ didn't pursue that idea
then  it  probably  was such a good idea at all... Did you ever saw M$
lose an opportunity to get some extra dollar$? :)

But here it's not the case. They already have code an editor, which is
excellent,  as everybody agrees. Why not use the same code and sell it
stand-alone?  I  can't  see  how  they  could lose focus on their core
business. They would improve income and at the same time improve their
editor.

Probably  by  the same motive which is taking Mercedes from luxury cars
to city cars (with Class A).

Maybe it was too ambitious or they didn't have the 'dough' to carry it
out...
