Hello Tony,

TB> And he has every right to defend his position but I do resent
TB> him suggesting I was flaming.

I'm sorry, perhaps I choose wrong word. My point was that direction
your message goes, is quite clear and will give us another long
thread. Any position makes me failed if I'll be against it will be
simple flame, if I'll be silent you'll blame me and RitLabs in
non-communicating and non-listening position.

TB> I'm just confused at the name. I can't get my head around the fact that RC
TB> can even be considered as a name when so much work quite obviously has to
TB> be done before it can be released.

There are always a lot of work to be done. But you'll never go through
desert if you wouldn't know where oasises are located. Release doesn't
mean there is no bugs, it is just a stable enough milestone.

TB> I thought 9Val was assuring us that all these bugs would be fixed before
TB> it's release but then he covered himself by saying he was only referring
TB> to temporary files, no promise of fixing all know bugs before the release.

Fix all known bugs? Have you seen bugtrack? It is impossible
theoretically. Practically it is useless to try fix all the bugs. They
have priority and all of them have own time to fix. Just look at the
main purpose of this release - it has new GUI system. All our efforts
are dedicated to it. Sure, we have fixed some other bugs, but
look to Peter's list, it is mostly cleared. Now most problems are
related to customization dialog which is completely re-worked and
re-designed now, so I think most of the issues will disappear.
Currently there is only few "real" bugs which are show-stoppers - AV
on entering search (not for all), threading by references, and
randomly AV (reported by Marck-Roelof-Gary). Sure, it will be better
if other will be fixed too, but I don't think they are so critical to
start new holy war.

TB> Lets just wait and see what the actual release performs like. If it
TB> contains even a single known bug then we'll know that our job as beta
TB> testers is pointless.

I don't think so, but it is just my opinion.
