Charlene, I think this has to be a bug. The settings you sent me on
the screenshot by PM all tallied with mine, except that you have
"Automatically" checked and I have "Always."

Just in case it might be in the scrollable menu hanging up, I tested
by asking for Automatically--works fine. Switched back to
Always--Ticker appeared. Change did not take place for Automatically,
however, until I had read all the unread messages showing there. (Not
relevant to your case, I know.) The third option, Hide, behaves here
in the same way. That is, normally. Mail Ticker hides when asked,
reappears immediately upon "OK" for the "Always" choice.

I'd back up and install RC2 or perhaps 3.0.2.10 over the current
version and see if that gave back the Mail Ticker, if I encountered
this deficiency on my own machine.

If you decide to do that, please report back here on what happens. :)
