Bah.. I wanted fight!! :P

OK, in accordance. Hubby has spoken.

Irony is more usually event driven, rather than sarcasm which is
usually personal. Although similar, they are distinctly different.

Its definitely sarcastic when you say "You've lost weight" to someone
whos like 500lbs and growing as you speak.

Its definitely sarcastic when you say how nice your mother-in-laws
cooking is as you run to throw up with food poison.

However

The story of the man and his wife...

An old man and his wife come to celebrate their wedding anniversary,
they have few possessions, they both think long and hard what to get
each other for a present.

The wife knows her husband loves his pocket watch, hes had it for many
years, but the chain has broken and he needs a new one and they cant
really afford it.

The husband loves his wifes long hair and sees in a shop a clip for
her hair.

They exchange presents.

The wife gives the man a chain for his watch, the woman receives a
clip for her hair..

The ironic part is, the man sold his watch for the clip, and she sold
her hair for the chain.

(The story was better told when I heard it but I was like 6 at the
time this is some 27 years later)

HUGE difference.
