Mary, I didn't mean to suggest you were making demands on my time. I
meant to convey why I hadn't waited a long time before I decided it
wasn't doing what it should. I guess I'm expressing myself about as
well as when I tried to suggest to Mica the other day that even native
English speakers may know some big words.

Anyhow, I ran the same search, and stopped it, then went to an unread
message and waited for it to load (IMAP). Instead of instant response
I waited 1 minute 40 seconds for it to appear, which I assume was the
time it took for the stop to happen. My search was on text in an IMAP
folder (only one IMAP folder) which contained about 2600 messages.
