I am mystified as to what "hide items if not explicitly selected,"
means.  I,too, was puzzled by the phenomenon of not being able to copy
AB entries when dragging one from the main listing to a new group's
listing.  If I understood this: "TB never copied entries in AB-groups, but 
merely added
the group to the entry," I'd understand what the "hide items" option
meant, I suppose.
