Jens, thanks for the information, but I would like to have
confirmation before I upgrade to 4.x again. Please understand that I
only upgraded after the 4.x was officially released on the Ritlabs
site. Then, within days, I ran into this critical usability issue. To
go back to 3.99.29, I had to do a System Restore. Quite naturally, I
am reluctant to start using 4.x again until I know for certain that
this issue is resolved. So, Jens, even if for some mysterious reason
Ritlabs decided to fix this bug silently, I do think that they should
have had the courtesy to at least send me a private notification that
the bug I brought to their attention has been fixed.

Don't get me wrong. I am not complaining. It would not surprise me if
this problem took more than a day or two to fix. I just want to be
sure it is on someone's list, and I also want to know when the problem
has been taken care of. For what it's worth, I did finally get around
to filing a bug report (after noting that a new beta release had come
out and this problem was not listed as fixed). The bug report is at
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=6827. So far - not very long, I
admit - there is no notation on that bug report that the problem is
resolved.
