Historians believe that Sun, 6 May 2001 at 21:16 GMT -0700 was when,
I, Januk Aggarwal [JA] typed the following:
JA> <begin template>
JA>
%QUOTESTYLE='=%SETPATTREGEXP="(?is)(\w).*?([-_=@\.\s]+(\w).*?)?([-_=@\.\s]+(\w).*?)?$"%REGEXPBLINDMATCH="%ABofromNAME=""%SETPATTREGEXP="""^(?(?=.*?\@)(.*?)\@|(.*)$)"""%REGEXPBLINDMATCH="""%OFROMNAME"""%SUBPATT="""1"""%SUBPATT="""2""""""%SUBPATT="1"%SUBPATT="3"%SUBPATT="5"'
JA> <end template>
JA> It works great for me, and it limits the number of initials to three.
JA> That was my personal preference, but could be modified if you so
JA> choose.
I forgot to mention, there is an interesting variant of this macro
which will use *no* quote prefix (ie just the > symbol) if there are 4
or more initials. If there are three or less initials, the quote
prefix is the initials. The macro was presented on this list in
mid-March 2001, in a thread: "Help Plz.... Important" started by wie.
It has been slightly modified to accommodate the current request.
%QUOTESTYLE='%SETPATTREGEXP=''^(?(?=;;);;(.*);;|.*?;;.*?;;(.*))''%REGEXPBLINDMATCH=''%SETPATTREGEXP="(?is)(\w).*?([-_=@\.\s]+(\w).*?)?([-_=@\.\s]+(\w).*?)?([-_=@\.\s]+(\w).*?)?$"%REGEXPBLINDMATCH="%ABofromName=""%SETPATTREGEXP="""^(?(?=.*?\@)(.*?)\@|(.*)$)"""%REGEXPBLINDMATCH="""%OFROMNAME"""%SUBPATT="""1"""%SUBPATT="""2""""""%SUBPATT="7";;=%SUBPATT="1"%SUBPATT="3"%SUBPATT="5";;None''%SUBPATT=''1''%SUBPATT=''2'''
