OK ... THIS tells me it is not a TB! problem :-) ...
Maybe it's just an unlucky time of switching from Mozilla to TB! , but
I bet my ass Mozilla ain't able to connect right now too!!!
I've done the simplest thing to check:
quarter:~ # telnet smtp.vub.ac.be 25
Trying 134.184.129.3...
NOTHING happens ... so the SMTP-Server blocks the ATTEMPT to connect.
At this connection-state it is NOT able to differ between TB! &
Mozilla!!!
So the problem is not TB!-related *puh* :-)
I also tried to connect to the SMTP you use for your home-account:
quarter:~ # telnet relay.chello.be 25
Trying 195.162.196.21...
Connected to out-mx.chello.be.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 hood.tvd.be ESMTP Sendmail 8.9.3/8.9.3/RELAY-1.1; Fri, 8 Jun 2001 13:45:39 +0200
(MET DST) Ommmmmm....
THIS worked ... so it's open to become connected from the outside
world :-) I'd bet the work-SMTP is behind a kind of firewall which
blocks the outside connection :-)

I don't know why you need to send emails via a specific SMTP, because
you're able to set (@ home) your e-mail-address to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
AND use the SMTP from your ISP.
And you're able to set (@ work) your email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] AND
use the SMTP-server at work to send it.
So there is normally no problem sending a mail with a senders address
different than the domain the SMTP-Server is good for.
Maybe you want give it a try so set at home both SMTP-server to the
ISPs one but use different sender-addresses in the two accounts and at
work vice versa :-)
