Thank you. Creating a default template cured the problem. May I now
ask you about my reply templates. They work, or don't work,
inconsistely, in ways that I do not understand.

For example, before, by way of experimentation, I added your adddress
to my address book, what you see above is what pressing "reply"
produced (before I manually deleted extra text). That is, there was no
opening salutation or reference to your post. After adding you to my
address book, pressing reply produced the following:

Dear Allie:

[balance of your post deleted]

I have both a default reply template and address book folder
templates. Here is my default reply template:

Dear %OFROMFNAME:%-

On %ODateEn, %OTimeLongEn, %OFROMNAME wrote:

%Quotes
%Cursor

--
%Qinclude="is"

%FROM="David A. Guberman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"
%REPLYTO="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

As noted above, before I put your address in an address book folder,
using it to reply to your message reproduced your post, but not the
opening apparatus. After the address book addition, I got the opening
salutation. Notice, by the way, the absence of a blank line between the
"Dear Allie" and the day-time identificiation line. Here is my
"personal" address book folder reply template ("personal" is an
address folder within the default-named "Personal address book"):

Dear %OFROMFNAME:%-

On %DATEEN at %TIME, %ABofromFIRSTNAME="%OFROMFNAME" wrote:

%CURSOR

%QUOTES

%QINCLUDE="is"

I hope this provides you with enough information. Many thanks for
your efforts.

Regards,
