If  it's  not possible for you to chose a filename, then you are doing
something very different than I am.   :-0

I'm  in  "view  folder"  mode  when  I  chose Message -- Save As.  The
shortcut key is ALT-F5.  The typical "save as" box opens, which allows
you to type in a filename, and chose the file type.
