I think you're right on both counts. But it's TB that's affected
first, and I do try to minimize the number of programs and files I
have open - which interferes with my use of the machine.

No PCI slots on this one - they came out just after buying the
computer. Your idea of shopping for a used one is good, and I will
call the manufacturer (IBM), to see what they have to say. But it
sounds like it's time to upgrade computers. Thanks for the advice.
