That's  not  true,  IMHO.  MS  works  by  telling people what they are
supposed  to  want,  alright. But at the same time they manage to give
people  too  many  options  so  that no normal dumb user can work with
their  software.  They  lead  people  in the direction that's best for
Microsoft instead of the one that's best for them and everyone else.

I'm  against  the  concept  of denying features, too. But a feature is
only  a  feature in the right place. To say it the hard way: You don't
need  variable  width  fonts  to  work  with  a  system  that has been
functioning with fixed width fonts for what? 20 years? or such.

That's  what I'm saying all the time. I think especially of the people
using charsets (some mentioned that) that don't work properly in fixed
width. But I still think it's not generally a good idea.
