Hi Thomas,

live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points:

Excuse me, but I detect a little confusion here. HTML and ENR can
encapsulate the font requests. Variable width font has validity in
these places and, in the case of HTML, is actually displayed by TB. In
the case of plain text mail, however, there is no such font definition
standard available and variable width fonts are purely a matter of
personal local taste rather than (as you postulated in a side thread
on this issue) a matter of "keeping up with the times" as in the Telex
v. Fax argument.

While I do not dispute that some may want a variable font to ruin
(sorry .. enhance?) their message display with, I certainly don't. I
do accept Alex's point (that Pegasus has its' F12 toggle to switch
between a fixed and variable font) as a good one in this argument. I
remember that working quite well for me, but usually leaving it on
fixed width anyway. :-)

Also this thread has missed out on mentioning that "olde registry
hacke" to allow any font you so desire:

(posted previously by Alexander V. Kisilev)

For if you _absolutely_ need variable- width font ..., you
can go and manually edit your registry, in particular, these
         sections of it:

         HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Editor\Font
         HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Rich Text

If you manually edit there the name of the font to be used,
The Bat! will obey... But be advised, that if, for example,
you write there "Arial", you'll hardly manage to read
         anything:-)

Thus ends my dump for the day.

Cheers,
Marck
