I haven't followed the thread closely...so pardon me for asking this,
but can someone please tell me *why* again?
Email programs have enough problems with compatibility and following
standards without dragging non-standard editors into the foray.
This is my personal opinion, but I still think email should primarly
be an ASCII medium, with the ability to send attachments. HTML
formatting provided by newsletters is "okay", but I don't see a
personal need to create HTML email.
There is nothing I despise more, than to get an email from someone,
which is just an Attachment of a word file.
I then have to open up word (which on my system at work is sometimes
a problem, becuase I run Wincenter, a windows emulator on a Unix Box)
just to read an email message that says, in plain text, what could
have been written in the regular email. To me that is a waste of
time.
There also is the issue that not everyone will be able to read an
"edited" message, because believe it or not, not EVERYONE uses MS
Office products ;) Then some of your WSIWYG editing you were hoping
for, can get trashed by another programs translator.
Now, this becomes even more complicated if you are implying that TB!
(or another email) shouldn't just add an attachment, but should
interperet your editors intentions, and send an RFC compliant email.
That would be a nightmare I think...
If you really want to send something from an editor, doesn't MAPI
meet your needs?
Sorry if this has been rehashed...but I'm just catching up on the
thread! :)
