As many as are out there, until you find something that does *exactly*
what you need. I installed heaps of software when I upgraded my
computer, simply because I didn't know what would work best. Now that
I've started to get accustomed to the new functionality that my
computer provides, I can eliminate the redundancies. Plus, every now
and then, someone will suggest a viewer/editor that does what I want
better/faster/cheaper than the what I'm currently using.
Take The Bat! for example. I was perfectly happy with Netscape
Messenger until I had to setup someone with slightly different needs.
While looking around, the only client that seemed to fit the bill was
The Bat! It worked so nicely, I converted my computer over as well,
even though I didn't really *need* most of the functions. Now that
I've had it for a while, I realize that it was one of the best
decisions I've made, even though I had to pay for the software.
