Application skinning is a new fad, yes, but it could mean the end of
interface consistency if each application has it's own method of skinning.
Not to mention the extra coding that each application will pack.

Stardock, the developers of the system-wide skinning application called
WindowBlinds announced it's release of WindowBlinds: DirectSkin 1.0, a
Direct X component which provides a powerful skinning API. The effect of
WindowBlinds on the user interface is impressive and DirectSkin could be
the start of something big in the windows world where user interface
enhancement is concerned. Enhancement with potential consistency. I'm
looking at a skinned TB! as we speak. :-)
